SPEECH ON THE JOURNEY OF SCHOOL

AT LAURA GIRLS SECONDARY SCHOOL GRADUATION

ON  2nd DECEMBER 2020

BY SIBONGILE SHAKELE (SENIOR PREFECT)

The provincial education officer – the guest of Honour, the headteacher laura girls’ secondary school, the mother superior, sponsors, invited guests, all teachers present, all parents present, graduands, or may I simply say ladies and gentlemen. I feel greatly humbled to be accorded this important yet rare privilege to address this august house representing my fellow graduands.

Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, let me first and foremost start by explaining how it all began. It all started in 2016 January where most of us were accepted as laura girls into our beautiful school. In the passage of time, we were joined by others which increased the members of this beautiful family. At the beginning of the 2018v academic year, we qualified into grade ten we had a lot of new lauranians joining. It was a change but also an opening of another chapter of the books of our lives.

Unfortunately, from the year 2018 till date we have lost 6 members of our intake. Due to  5 pregnancies and 1 illness leaving them no choice but to drop out of school. This left a sum of 126 pupils out of 3 classes.

Ladies and gentlemen, we cannot say it was a comfortable journey but, it was a long road to where we are. And it came with its ups and downs yet still the grade 12’ class of 2020 made it.

In conclusion, ladies and gentlemen, we are proud to call ourselves Graduates of laura girls secondary school and you are guaranteed that this school has formulated good Christians, honest citizens and future leaders

Thank you for your attention and May God Bless us all.
